"All This Time" Lyrics
You move across the desert with a child at your side
The space around you cannot touch the emptiness inside
You see the world behind you disappearing in the sand
It’s gone before you hope to understand
A part of you continues to believe what you were taught
A part of you is turning back to see what you have lost
Before you feel the sting of memory turning you to salt
You learn that you are human to a fault
All this time
Living something when you needed to believe something else
All this time
Giving something that you needed to receive from yourself
You move across the desert with no sense of right or wrong
The child at your side begins an unfamiliar song
Embracing what is fragile and forsaking what is strong
You listen to your heart and sing along
All this time
Living something when you needed to believe something else
All this time
Giving something that you needed to receive from yourself
I never knew that happiness could be so sad and true
In ways you can’t imagine me I still belong to you
In ways I have been balancing to keep myself from falling
Or from flying
All this time
Living something when you needed to believe something else
All this time
Giving something that you needed to receive from yourself
