"Something in Your Eyes" Lyrics

Take a walk with me
Let's go back in time
Do you remember
The heat of December
And the way we walked
Through pouring rain and endless talk
And the way we laughed out loud
There was something in your eyes
What I saw still holds me in awe
In your eyes
Spend your life with me
Until the end of time
We will make more memories
We will share the stories
Of the way we walked
Through pouring rain and endless talk
And the way we laughed out loud
There was something in your eyes
Now I see it was your love for me
There was something in your eyes
What I saw still holds me in awe
In your eyes
I saw a million angels
I saw an endless sunrise
I saw an open heaven in your eyes
I saw an ageless moment
I saw a boundless love
I still see more than life in your eyes
Do you remember the way we danced
And the way we laughed out loud
There was something in your eyes
Now I see it was your love for me
There was something in your eyes
What I saw still holds me in awe
There's still something in your eyes

Bio

"The real value in life is in relationships, not results.  Maybe that's the ultimate result -- how much we've loved." -David Marin, July 2006

Something in Your Eyes, Martin's self-produced debut album, reaches for and attains a lush romanticism that is utterly free of irony and self-consciousness, while offering elegant melodies, dramatic transitions and one memorable chorus hook after another.  All of these virtues are dramatically apparent on "Something in Your Eyes," which has been chosen as the first single.  This is the sort of achievement that is rarely even attempted in these cynical times, which is what it makes it so striking and so necessary.  Recall the classic hits of the '70s and '80s, presented by such craftsmen of the lost art as Billy Joel and Sting, and you realize that Martin has picked  up where these artists left off a quarter century ago.

"For me," says Martin, "it's always about the song."

The 10 unabashed love songs that comprise Something in Your Eyes are drawn entirely from experience, and the subject of each one is the love of Martin's life.  They are sung with a thrilling combination of skillfulness and conviction.  The company Martin keeps on the record is also testament to the talent of this striking new artist.  The album was mixed by Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz) and Martin surrounded himself with a group of A-list players including Neil Robins (Dirt Poor Robins) and distinct drummer Manu Katche' (Sting, Peter Gabriel).

"Manu has played on so many legendary recordings -- he's got a flavor you can't find anywhere else -- and recently he told me how proud he is to have been a part of this record," says Martin.  "You can't imagine how gratifying that is."

Manu Katche' lives in Paris where he also stars as a critical judge, similar to Simon Cowell, in the French television version of American Idol.  "David has such a beautiful voice and an amazing talent of songwriting," Katche' boasts.  "This is a great album, and I think it will smoke the whole music market!  I know it will be a hit on my street."

"The coolest part of the recording process is that we all became great friends while making the record," Martin enthuses.  "That is what I love about music -- it always comes back to relationships.  My philosophy all along has been to pick the people I felt would provide the right vibe for the record and let them be who they are and do what they do.  Everyone brought all they had and poured it out in the recording."
The songs on the record are stirring, heartfelt pieces that will without a doubt be inspiring lovers for generations to come. They include "Something in Your Eyes," "Sign Your Song," "Our Love," and "It Must Be."
"I've done my best to be honest about love on this record," says Martin. "The deepest love I've experienced is on the other side of forgiveness. For me, true love is worth whatever it costs. I hope my songs spark a greater love for others."
