"Two to One" Lyrics

If what you see isn't what you get
Maybe you haven't looked deep enough yet
You'd like to think that you can stand alone
And that's why you'll end up on your own
On your own
Is where you'll be
Talk to her and I hope you'll see
First sight see shines like a star
But that can only go so far
When you think it's over
You've just begun
You get the chance to make it
Two to one
You don't believe me, you think you're brave
You walk away when there's something to save
Go ahead, start this over again
And you'll wind up where you've always been
Where you've been
You don't want to go
Here is something that you ought to know
First sight she shines like a star
But that can only go so far
When you think it's over
You've just begun
You get the chance to make it
Two to one
So you want to get closer now, that's a fact
You're moving forward when you think you slide back
Love is working, it's  never for free
And you ain't got it if you think it's easy
Now don't be sad
You've got what others only wish they had
First sight she shines like a star
What I saw still holds me in awe
But that can only go so far
When you think it's over
You've just begun
You get the chance to make it
Two to one

Bio

A top 30 hit is no small achievement, but considering Ben Green’s single “Two To One” off his eponymous 2002 debut was produced by the artist and released on his own label (distributed by Artemis Records), it was nothing short of a phenomenon.

Born and raised in New York City, Ben Green started playing piano at age 3 and writing songs by age 9. While attending Skidmore College, Ben played the folk clubs of Saratoga Springs, NY until the late, great Lena Spencer of Caffe Lena's encouraged him to pursue a career as a recording artist.

Several years of making demos and playing around NYC led to signing a publishing deal with EMI in 1990 and an artist deal with the ill fated SBK records. Ben enjoyed success as a songwriter, having his work covered by R&B great Buddy Miles and sax soloist Warren Hil. He also wrote and performed the title song for the Rob Lowe movie, The Finest Hour . His songs have been featured at various radio formats including AAA, Hot AC, AC and NPR.

Ben’s new CD World’s Fair (2007) is an edgy follow up to his 2002 charting debut. Featuring performances by notable musicians and artists including Phoebe Snow, Chris Botti, and Jerry Marotta World’s Fair showcases many collaborative talents.
