"I Can't Get
Over You" Lyrics
Now I guess that I don't expect us to go out
on that day that I spoke about
It's clear that you're still with another
and I don't wish to be in your way at all
And so you leave me here all alone,
knowing that that's what I chose, to be out on my own
I left my situation to be sure that you could see
I was here for you and totally free
And now I can't get over you
I can't get over you
Someone tell me what to do,
I can't get over you
Remember back when we had just met,
oh how good feelings get when I think of then
And now I want a chance to explore this
just to see if there's more to this than being friends
And still you leave me here all alone
knowing that's what I chose to be out on my own
I left my situation to see, what about you and me?
What could that really be?
And now I can't get over you
I can't get over you
Someone tell me what to do, I can't get over you
I can't get over you
I can't get over you
Someone tell me what to do
I can't get over you
Bio
Allison has a Masters from Juilliard. As she continued her education in New York as a singer songwriter learning the ropes, she toured with Joe Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Suzanne Vega, Shania Twain, Angelique Kidjo, Jann Arden, Tracy Chapman, Pat Benatar, Ann-Margret and Ronnie Spector. Her recording credits include work with Cyndi Lauper, Jann Arden, Pat Benatar, Joe Jackson, Rachael Sage, Carter Burwell, Tim Booth, Angelo Badelmente and Branford Marsalis.
Allison's new solo cd is a mixture of jazz infused pop, with almost something for everyone. She's a masterful chameleon - effectively incorporating R&B, Pop, Dance, Jazz and even Americana. This cd, in a way, proves why she's been one of the most in-demand touring musicians for acts from Cyndi Lauper to Shania Twain.
Early in 2006, Allison was invited to select and record a cover song for a cd of the music of Emil Adler and Julie Flanders of the October Project. The album is aptly named "covered".
Allison is actively collaborating with the STREB dancers in NYC. Previous off-Broadway credits include musical director and composer for the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway play “Situation Tragedy” -- which won the L.A. Dramalogue Award for “Best Musical”. Allison was also cited for the award of “Best Musical Direction” by the same publication. She has toured with the Mabou Mines production of “Animal Magnetism” as a violinist/vocalist. A production at P.S. 122 in NYC called “Trick Saddle” featured Allison’s compositions and performance as singer/yodeler/fiddler.
